Everything you need to know about peer-to-peer calling, APK installation, privacy encryption, and bandwidth modes.
Traditional messaging apps route your video and audio data through large central servers that decode, monitor, and relay packets. QualityTime uses the standardized WebRTC protocol to negotiate a direct peer tunnel between your phone and your recipient's phone.
Once the handshake finishes, all audio, video, and file packets stream directly between both devices. This drastically cuts latency (lag) and guarantees unmatched privacy.
Yes, completely safe. The APK provided on this site is directly compiled from clean Flutter source and uploaded to official GitHub Releases. When your browser shows "File might be harmful", this is Android's standard warning for any installation from outside Google Play. You can safely tap "Download anyway" and allow installation from your browser.
Never. QualityTime does not operate media recording servers. Media streams are encrypted with DTLS-SRTP using cryptographic keys that only exist in volatile device memory during the active call. When a call ends, the session keys vanish permanently.
QualityTime includes a built-in background updater service that periodically queries our public GitHub manifest file (update.json). When a newer build code is released, the app prompts you with the changelog and allows you to download and update seamlessly without having to re-visit the browser.
Extreme Mode is engineered for users with high-speed Wi-Fi or 5G connections. It pushes the video encoder to 60 frames per second at up to 8.0 Mbps bitrate alongside 128 kbps Opus stereo audio. This produces an ultra-smooth, lifelike video call experience with zero blur during fast motion.
Go to in-app Settings → Data Saver and select Low Mode. Low Mode drops video bitrate to 150 kbps and audio to 16 kbps Opus, ensuring crisp, unbroken audio calls even on crowded 2G/3G networks or while traveling.
Modern Android power-saving algorithms frequently kill background processes. By integrating with Android's native CallKit notification system, QualityTime can wake your phone when you receive an incoming call and display a full-screen ringing UI just like a cellular phone call.
Desktop (Windows 64-bit, macOS Apple Silicon/Intel) and Web Browser versions are in active testing. Because QualityTime is developed with Flutter and WebRTC, the desktop and web engines share the same underlying architecture and will launch in subsequent public releases.
